We are confined at home these days, with Carlotta having a cold and the snow. It is supposed to snow all day again so, let's consider shoveling a bit as a winter sport - if I practice enough I might make it to Vancouver!!!
I've had enough snow for one year! I drive all over Long Island doing magic shows (really) and shoveling and sliding are two tricks I'd rather not do anymore! Love the blog... good stuff!

dear Hijinx, hope you were NOT the magician at the birthday party I was ten days ago, if so...the fire trick was just a bit too wild. (But also the most exciting part of the evening).
thanks for your comment, and please, please do the springtime magic whenever you think it is appropriate - yeah, snow it's fun if you stay inside and drink hot chocolate, otherwise it sucks - let's hope for warmer weather!
Finally good weather and finally outdoors... On Saturday we decided to give Wildwood State Park another chance - last time it was really too windy to enjoy the walk. This Park on the North Shore is easily accessible and just a fifteen minute drive from our home, which is very convenient (no complaints in the car is always very relaxing). We were hoping to use the boat ramp like we did the first time and then walk along the shore, but this time it was closed to public (to the public who doesn't want to climb on the fence) so we took the shortest of the four trails - marked in red - and walked through the beech forest for 1,8 miles. For the blue trail (2,9 miles), the orange trail (2,3 miles) and the yellow trail (3,8 miles) you need to organize food and drinks, unless you want to hear "Are we there yet?" more than hour long. The red trail goes past one bluff from which you can enjoy this view: I got myself "Hiking Long Island" by Lee McAllister, which is of co...
You can still find me around the corner! I know, I know... it has been one year now. Actually a bit longer than that. And we'll be staying some more months. But I am not a fan of extended projects; this has to end. Now. Also, I am not a fan of goodbyes. But this is a secret. As mentioned here and there, I need to take care of another little writing project with a friend and as much as I like reading couple of books at the same time, I am not able to concentrate on writing more things at a time. Some other things that were happening (or not happening) made me take this decision. I got to go. I will go. I will miss writing about Long Island, but there are such wonderful people writing about this island and me, I am kind of a "part-time lover" to use the words of Stevie Wonder. Before I go, I really need to say: you should read the blogs I put in my blogroll. On the left-side; the other left! I am very selective, so just expect to find la "creme de la creme...
I changed the blog template because I really am a springtime (actually more a late springtime) person but don't think all of those flowers make me a hippy happy quiet soul - because I am not. And it's because I wanted to wish Happy Easter, but it feels a bit strange in these times of catholic crisis... Me, I am just a recovered Catholic, like my maid of honor, and I kind of had problems with the Church from the very beginning. That is because I don't let anyone tell my which WAY I have to go. But let's start from, let's say...Sunday school. This is when I first met nuns (as an abstract object). I do remember very well this old lady asking everybody if they ever went to church and of course everybody went to church, because their parents were church people. My parents never were, especially my dad ...so what I could tell was, more or less "On Sundays my parents sleep". It must have sounded like heresy, but think about it: they were both waking up every m...
